An accumulation of cards

This is quite a mixed bag as it covers a whole month.

First one up is a sweet butterfly card for Caitlyn:

Then one for my dear friend Chrissie, using SU Nature Walk, Clearly For You, and of course the scallop die.

Share a cup: I cased the layout from one made last year by Mary Fish and I made it in two different colours.



I just had to try this technique when I saw it on Andrea Walford's blog some time back, so this is another case.

Now a bit of Disney for the little girls - a Princess with her own castle:

I am always looking for something a bit different for cards for the men so I used this Matches paper that I had bought ages ago to make a couple of very simple cards.

This card was inspired by Dawn Olchefske who has a tutorial for it on her blog:

Yep it's the scallop circle card and the Butterflies again.

I saw a cute baby dresser card at a paper show I went to a few months back and have tried to replicate it from memory.  I believe the lady who made it is "Michelle".  I tried to find her but don't think she has a blog.

I had a lot of fun making the next four cards - saw this beauty on Dawn's blog and again, just had to try it.  I got carried away and then turned all my efforts into cards which I am pleased with but they are not a patch on Dawn's original.

I made this little group of cards at a Glitter Class at Michelle Grech's home - very sparkly!

Just thought I would pop in this picture of some tealight covers that I made from paper doilies - very quick and easy to make and they look lovely massed on tables for a party.

...and last (well done to anyone who has stayed this long !!)  I went back to my very rusty calligraphy for this card.  It's for my older Brother so I can get away with the words.

I should have made the title of this post "How to fill in an evening" as it has been quite a marathon.  Of course if I didn't leave it so long between posts it would be much easier, but I am not going to make any promises.

A few more April cards.

Being so far behind with my posting it is just as well I took some photos along the way to jog my memory.  This first one was for an 11 year old:

and then a couple for my Grandson who just loves turtles, frogs, lizards etc:

Pretty Princess (in triplicate)

Pink, princess and of course, pretty - that was the request for a certain soon-to-be-6 young lady.  How easy is that when you have SU Pretty Princess stamp set?  I have used this set a few times now and wanted to do something a little different so I opted for a different shape of card.  I can't believe how long it took me to work out the final design but here it is:

Having used the scallop punch on the edges I then had to add a layer of the rose red on the inside to show off the scallops and it also required a different insert as well.

By the time I had finished fiddling with this one my patience had worn off so the next two 'spare' princesses got a somewhat basic finish:

 

I have used Pretty in Pink and Rose Red card stock and used the marker pens for colouring the images.

I had a go at making the man's shirt that I saw on "Dawn's Stamping Thoughts" - that was a bit of fun and may be handy for Fathers' Day.  designer paper is "Outlaw" from SU.

Now believe it or not this next card was not for a child !!  If I have a gift for someone I try to make a matching card.  I had a set of measuring cups in the shape of Matryoshka dolls for a friend, so this Hero Arts stamp set was the obvious way to go.

Why could I not see that sticky strip under the ribbon before I gave it away ???

That's about my lot for today - hopefully I will get time to play with my new Top Note die and the Bird Punch today.

'I'm Late' for "Valentine's Day' so I'm left with 'paper roses'.

The time has come for me to get this blog on the move.  I started out with great intentions in January but have had too many things to distract me since then.  I decided it had to be done before the second month of the year disappeared, so just scraping in. 

I want to say a very big Thank You to Sue  http://www.madexcreations.com/ (my lovely Stampin' Up lady), who has helped me to work out some of the finer points of blogging including making a watermark for me today, and also to Karen http://kgiron.blogspot.com/ for her tutorial on watermarks. 

As to the title of this post, well I did have this Valentine offering done in plenty of time, but alas, no one to give it to.  I have cased this from one I saw here last year and finally got to make it.   Sharon always makes beautiful cards and her blog is really great with plenty of new interest all the time, and she has the most divine ribbons.

This second card was another one that I 'cased' - this time from one by the wonderfully talented  Kelly Lunceford at http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/ .   I admire her work so much and have to pop in regularly to see what she is up to.  Love those concertina circles -  use them all the time.

When I realised that I had missed the 20th Birthday of a niece in England, I knew exactly which card I was going to do.  I just love anything to do with Alice in Wonderland, and the words on the front of the card are some that I seem to use quite often (if only to myself!).   I have to say this card was very, very late, but hopefully it has arrived by now.

My third card is all my own work (thank heavens, I hear you say!).  I have done quite a few 'step/stair' cards for special birthdays and they are really enjoyable to do.  This one is for the 90th birthday of a friend's special Auntie, so I do hope she likes it as they are a bit different from the normal run of cards. 

This card is pretty much a total SU effort.  I used the stamp set Fifth Avenue and watercoloured the roses etc., using some Twinklings, which give a bit of sparkle.  I have to say that it looks better in real life - my photography is not crash hot - the colour of the back rose is actually the same as the middle one.

February was a busy month in our family for birthdays and here are just a few of the cards I made.

Followed by yet another step/stair for Princess Lily.  SU Pretty Princess used on this one.

Most young children love to see their name on cards so sometimes I get to play with my pens and ink.

 That's about all I have to show today but hopefully I'll be back soon with the next batch of cards.
